Aided by on-the-hour first day airplay promotions and the enthusiasm one would expect for a new Metallica single, “Hardwired” debuts inside the Top 20 on the Mediabase active rock airplay chart.

“Hardwired” debuted on August 18 — the fifth day of the August 14-20 tracking period. By the conclusion of the tracking period, it had received 653 active rock spins.

The count earns Metallica’s single #19 on this week’s chart. “Hardwired” is the week’s only addition to the Top 20.

“Hardwired” is the lead single from the forthcoming “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct,” which is the iconic band’s first studio album since 2008’s “Death Magnetic.”
