Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” holds off Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” to earn a second straight week atop the Mediabase alternative airplay chart.

“Dark Necessities” received ~2,970 spins during the July 31-August 6 tracking week. While down by 167 spins from last week’s mark, the count keeps RHCP’s single narrowly ahead of “Way Down We Go.”

Kaleo’s tune, which rises one place to #2, received ~2,957 tracking week spins (+162).

Blink-182’s former #1 “Bored To Death” drops one place to #3 with ~2,932 weekly plays (-175), while twenty one pilots’ “Heathens” rises a spot to #4 on the strength of its ~2,596 spins (+193).

Spun ~2,558 times this week (+40), Cage The Elephant’s “Trouble” slips one place to #5.
