Update: Columbia has officially confirmed the news: The Chainsmokers’ new single “Closer (featuring Halsey)” premieres on July 29.

While not explicitly articulated in Columbia’s promotional message, numerous sources report that “Closer” will go for immediate pop radio airplay. It will thus “impact” in conjunction with the August 2 add board.
=====================
Last week, word emerged that The Chainsmokers’ new single was set to debut on July 29. Columbia did not initially confirm the song’s identity, but speculation suggested it was the duo’s collaboration with Halsey.

Additional support has emerged for that speculation.

Radio trade Friday Morning QB reports that the new single will indeed be “Closer (featuring Halsey).” The song officially goes for pop adds on August 2, which is the first available adds date following the anticipated July 29 release.

“Closer” will be the follow-up to “Don’t Let Me Down (featuring Daya),” which spent three weeks atop Mediabase’s pop airplay chart.
