Ratings: “The Night Of” Fails To Wow, But Outdraws “Show Me A Hero”

Sunday’s premiere of HBO’s “The Night Of” miniseries was not a spectacular ratings performer, but it did markedly outdraw last year’s “Show Me A Hero” launch.

According to live+same-day data from HBO and Deadline, the initial 9PM airing drew 0.77 million total viewers. The aforementioned “Show Me A Hero” drew only 0.44 million total viewers for its 110-minute premiere.

Comparative strength is not, however, the same as objective strength. Viewership of 0.77 million would still fall under the “modest” category.

Granted, it is not as if 0.77 million represents the episode’s total reach. An additional 0.32 million watched the immediate encore, while another 0.19 million tuned into the midnight rebroadcast.

HBO, moreover, touts that 1.5 million watched “The Night Of” on HBO Go, HBO Now and HBO On Demand prior to Sunday’s broadcast.
