Volbeat’s “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown” no longer wears the active rock crown.

After nine weeks at #1 on Mediabase’s active rock airplay chart, Volbeat’s song slips to #2. Its fall allows Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” to seize #1 on the latest chart.

The lead “The Getaway” single received ~2,031 spins during the July 3-9 tracking week. While down by 48 spins from last week’s count, the tally gives “Dark Necessities” a narrow edge over “The Devil’s Bleeding Crown.” Volbeat’s song was played ~2,023 times this past week (-111).

Shinedown’s “Asking For It” holds at #3 with a weekly spin count of ~1,896 (-33). Chevelle’s “Joyride” stays put at #4 with ~1,756 tracking week spins (+30), while a tracking week play count of ~1,371 (-22) keeps Ghost’s “From The Pinnacle To The Pit” at #5.
