Ratings: ABC’s “Greatest Hits” Dips In Adults 18-49, Down Bigger In Total Viewership

While it only slightly trailed last week’s premiere in adults 18-49, Thursday’s “Greatest Hits” endured a sizable drop in total viewership.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, this week’s episode posted a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and 3.66 million total viewers. Last week’s episode drew a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating and 4.86 million total viewers.

The discrepancy suggests a much younger skew for this week’s episode and a difference in episodic focus may be the culprit. Whereas last week’s premiere focused on the period between 1980 and 1985, this week’s episode jumped to the more recent (and thus younger-skewing) 1995-2000 period.

Additional demographic data supports the conclusion; this week’s episode was up in adults 18-34 but down with the 25-54 and 50+ segments.

The six-part “Greatest Hits” series continues this coming Thursday. The episode will focus on the period between 1985 and 1990.
