Fitz And The Tantrums’ “HandClap” Heading Top 5 at Alternative Radio

Fitz and Tantrums [ABC]

Prepare to clap your hands for Fitz And The Tantrums’ “HandClap,” which is poised to enter the Top 5 on this week’s Mediabase alternative airplay chart.

The lead single from the band’s new, self-titled album received 2,009 spins during the first six days of the June 19-25 tracking period. Up 1.3% from last week’s count, the tally slots “HandClap” at #5 on Mediabase’s building chart.

Lacking an imminent threat from below, “HandClap” should be able to retain its Top 5 position through the close of tracking.

The ascent to #5 represents a welcome reversal of course for “HandClap,” which actually endured a decline in airplay — and slipped from #6 to #7 — last week.

Blink-182’s “Bored To Death” is poised to claim #1 on this week’s alternative chart.
