HBO’s “Confirmation” Outperforms “Nightingale” in Ratings, Trails “Bessie”

The premiere of HBO’s original movie “Confirmation” drew modest numbers Saturday but still managed to outperform last year’s “Nightingale.”

It did not, however, match the performance of the 2015 HBO film “Bessie.”

According to national data posted by Showbuzz, Saturday’s “Confirmation” broadcast drew a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating and 0.94 million total live+same-day viewers.

Airing on Friday, May 29, 2015 the aforementioned “Nightingale” drew a considerably weaker 0.1 rating and 0.22 million total viewers.

“Bessie,” meanwhile, posted a 0.4 rating and reached 1.34 million total viewers on Saturday, May 16, 2015.

While still a relevant gauge of interest, live+same-day ratings tell only a small part of the story when it comes to HBO’s original movies. The premium network will also look at viewership over time — across re-airings, DVR, on-demand and streaming — as well as critical acclaim and awards.
