RCA Eyeing “Like I Would” As ZAYN’s Next Pop Radio Single

While his debut single “PILLOWTALK” is not yet done rising up the pop radio airplay chart, attention is beginning to turn to ZAYN’s follow-up radio release.

Consistent with fan expectations, RCA is eyeing “Like I Would” as that follow-up.

The label recently made the single available to radio programmers and professionals via the AllAccess delivery system. The move is not tantamount to confirmation of a radio push, but it is a strong indication of one.

In recent weeks, ZAYN has performed “Like I Would” on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and the iHeartRadio Music Awards. As the latter performance was simulcast on iHeart’s network of pop stations, “Like I Would” actually received enough airplay to rank as the Mediabase pop panel’s #95 song for the April 3-9 tracking week.

The aforementioned “PILLOWTALK” earned #4 for that tracking period, in the process tying the highest mark he had ever achieved with One Direction (via both “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Story Of My Life”). The song is up to #3 on the building chart for the current April 10-16 tracking week and thus on track to surpass that One Direction pop radio high mark on this week’s official chart.
