Selena Gomez Songs, Lyrics Featured In Tuesday’s “New Girl” Episode

New Girl [FOX]

Jess reconnected with ex-boyfriend Sam (David Walton) during the aptly titled “Sam Again” edition of “New Girl.”

In the wake of that renewed encounter, Jess has been aggressively attempting to make contact with her former lover. The aggressive outreach, as we learn at the beginning of this Tuesday’s episode, prompted Sam to file a restraining order.

The terms of the restraining order provide the episode with its title: “300 Feet.” They also provide Jess with a dilemma: how can she confront Sam — and assure him that she is not dangerous — if she cannot get within 300 feet?

Tuesday’s central storyline follows Jess as she predictably stumbles in her attempt to make contact.

Based on a screener issued to TV media, the storyline makes notable use of Selena Gomez’ music.

Revealing himself as a Selena Gomez fan, Sam cranks up Gomez’ thematically appropriate singles “Hands To Myself” and “The Heart Wants What It Wants” on his car radio. He also sings along with the latter, creating unwitting backdrop for an outrageous, soapy scene involving Jess.

Later in the episode, Jess struggles to correctly quote a lyric from Gomez’ “Same Old Love.”

— The episode’s other storyline finds Nick and Schmidt feuding with the owner of a trendy new bar that opened in the neighborhood.

The “300 Feet” edition of FOX’s “New Girl” airs Tuesday at 8PM.
