Chris Stapleton Pacing To Win US Album Sales Race; Lukas Graham In Mix On BB200

Aided by valuable exposure during CBS Sunday Morning and Sunday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony, Chris Stapleton’s “Traveller” is on pace to win the US album sales race.

Based on a very early assessment of the post-ACM Awards spike, Hits Daily Double projects a weekly US sales total in the 43-48,000 range. That puts “Traveller” narrowly ahead of Big Sean and Jhene Aiko’s “Twenty88” project, which is pacing to sell 39-43,000.

Other notable pure sellers will likely include Weezer’s “Weezer (The White Album)” (~36-40,000), Lukas Graham’s “Lukas Graham” (~34-38,000) and Adele’s “25” (projected range not yet available).

“Traveller” will also be in the mix from a total consumption (pure sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500) standpoint. Hits expects the album, which has multiple tracks positioned prominently on the iTunes sales chart, to generate 53-61,000 in total consumption.

The aforementioned “Lukas Graham” should also be in the mix. Set to primarily benefit from sales and streams for its smash single “7 Years,” the album could post a consumption tally in the 56-61,000 range.

Other albums to keep in mind when looking at total consumption (if not for #1, then certainly for the Top 5) include Rihanna’s “ANTI,” Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” and ZAYN’s “Mind Of Mine.”

Total consumption informs the Billboard 200 chart.
