Ratings Update: FOX’s “Grease Live!” Draws 12.2M Viewers, Dominates Sunday Night

Update: Final Nielsen data confirms that Sunday’s “Grease Live!” averaged a 4.3 adults 18-49 rating and 12.206 million viewers from 7-10PM.

It was the night’s number one show in both columns.

It also outperformed NBC’s “The Wiz Live!” (3.4, 11.50m) and “Peter Pan Live!” (2.4, 9.21m). While it markedly trailed NBC’s 2013 “The Sound Of Music Live!” (4.6, 18.62m) in total viewership, it put up a comparable number in adults 18-49.

FOX’s foray into live television musicals was a successful one; its “Grease Live!” was a ratings smash.

Per fast national data, Sunday’s three-hour broadcast averaged a 4.3 adults 18-49 rating and 12.182 million total viewers. While not quite as big as NBC’s 2013 “The Sound Of Music Live! (4.6, 18.62 million) it outperformed that network’s “Peter Pan Live!” (2.4, 9.21m) and “The Wiz Live!” (3.4, 11.50m).

Strong from the get-go, “Grease Live!” added viewers as it progressed. It posted a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating and 11.163 million total viewers in the 7PM hour, a 4.5 with 12.671 million at 8PM, and a 4.5 with 12.713 million at 9PM.

It was by far the top rated and most watched network program within its three-hour timeslot.
