Ratings: “Shadowhunters” Premiere Draws 1.82M Viewers Following “Pretty Little Liars”

Granted lead-in support from FreeForm flagship “Pretty Little Liars,” heavily hyped new series “Shadowhunters” premiered Tuesday.

It drew a 0.76 adults 18-49 rating and 1.822 million total viewers.

Below those posted by the “PLL” lead-in (1.06, 2.246 million for the midseason premiere), the numbers are decent by modern cable standards. Focus will now shift to whether the new series can retain its initial audience in the weeks ahead.

Some other demographic notes:

— “Pretty Little Liars” also led “Shadowhunters” in demographics like adults 18-34 (1.4 vs. 0.8), adults 25-54 (0.8 vs. 0.7), females 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.0), females 12-34 (2.6 vs. 1.4), and males 12-34 (0.5 vs. 0.4).

— “Shadowhunters” topped “Pretty Little Liars” with viewers 50+ (0.42 vs. 0.29).
