Ratings: “New Girl” Falls in Demo, Rises in Viewers From Last Premiere

Indicative of a different audience skew, Tuesday’s season five “New Girl” premiere bested the previous season opener in total viewership but slipped in adults 18-49.

Per fast national data, the veteran comedy began its season with a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating and 3.348 million total viewers. Last year’s opener posted a 1.7 with 3.04 million.

“New Girl” led into “Grandfathered,” which moved back a half-hour as part of FOX’s new Tuesday lineup. This week’s episode drew a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and 3.018 million total viewers.

The previous episode, which aired at 8PM on December 1, posted a 0.9 with 3.11 million.

Relocated “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” posted a 1.2 with 2.720 million total viewers at 9PM, while relocated “The Grinder” drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.140 million total viewers at 9:30PM.

The previous “Grinder,” which aired at 8:30PM on December 1, posted a 0.7 with 2.41 million total viewers.
