Rihanna’s “Umbrella” Reaches 6X Platinum Status in the United States

Rihanna, who already held the greatest number of US digital single certifications, recently added another one.

On December 17, 2015, her smash hit “Umbrella” garnered a 6x platinum status under the RIAA’s digital singles program.

The certification confirms a US unit total of at least 6 million. One unit is equal to 1 paid download or 100 streams.

Rihanna’s singles have amassed a total of 102 million certified units under the RIAA’s digital singles program, which positions her as America’s top digital singles artist.

With 96.5 million, Taylor Swift is #2.
