Ratings: FOX’s “Empire” Sinks To Series Low On Thanksgiving Eve; “Rosewood” Also Down

FOX surprisingly aired an original edition of “Empire” on Thanksgiving Eve.

The episode, unsurprisingly, posted series low ratings in adults 18-49 and total viewership

Per Nielsen fast national data, Wednesday’s episode drew a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating and 9.111 million total viewers. Down from the 4.4 and 11.336 million posted by the previous episode, the numbers by far rank as series lows.

Prior to this week, “Empire” had never gone below a 3.8 in the demo or 9.90 million in total viewership.

As Thanksgiving Eve is a popular night for going to bars, traveling, and simply spending time with family (away from television), it is a notoriously difficult one for television programming. While the week-to-week drop may have been more extreme than expected, it was inevitable.

FOX led into “Empire” with “Rosewood.” It drew a 1.2 and 4.633 million.

Down from last week’s 1.5 and 4.723 million, the marks were the lowest posted by a “Rosewood” episode.
