Adele’s “Hello” Debuts at #1 on the Hot 100; Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” Takes #2

For the fourth time in her career, Adele holds the top spot on the all-encompassing Billboard Hot 100.

Adele this week reaches the chart’s apex courtesy the debuting “Hello.” Powered by its monstrous first full week of sales, airplay, and streaming activity, the lead “25” single rockets into the #1 position.

The sales figure, in fact, represents a record for the digital era. “Hello” reached the 1.11 million US sales mark within the official October 23-29 tracking week; Flo Rida’s “Right Round” previously held the record with 636,000 weekly digital sales.

It additionally generated 61.6 million streams during the same October 23-29 tracking week.

Adele previously topped the chart with “Rolling In The Deep,” “Someone Like You,” and “Set Fire To The Rain.” Those three tracks came from her Grammy-winning, Diamond-certified smash “21.”

“Hello” is one of two high-profile additions to the chart’s upper reaches. Justin Bieber’s “Sorry,” the other, starts at #2.
