Ratings: “The Walking Dead” Premiere Draws 14.6M, Trails S5, S4 Openers

Sunday’s season six “The Walking Dead” premiere was predictably a monster performer, but it was not as hot as the 2014 fifth season or 2013 fourth season openers.

Per Nielsen data, Sunday’s episode drew a 7.43 adults 18-49 rating with 14.633 million total viewers. It was Sunday night’s top overall broadcast in adults 18-49 and the night’s #3 overall program (behind Sunday Night Football and CBS’ football- and Obama-boosted “60 Minutes”) in total viewers.

The performance, nonetheless, trails that of the previous two season premieres. The 2014 season launched with an 8.7 adults 18-49 rating and 17.286 million viewers. The 2013 season premiere posted an 8.2 with 16.111 million.
