FX’s “Tyrant” Renewed; Ten Episode Third Season Set for 2016

Like fellow summer drama “The Strain,” FX’s “Tyrant” will be back for a third season.

FX confirmed the news in a Wednesday press release. Set to air in 2016, the upcoming season will contain ten episodes.

“Tyrant’s second season took the show to a new level thanks to the skill and direction of Howard, Chris and Glenn and their creative team, the exceptional cast and a story steeped in family, loyalty and intrigue,” said FX’s Eric Schier. “We look forward to the next chapter and a sensational third season of Tyrant.”

The second season of FX’s “Tyrant” suffered a year-over-year loss in live+same-day viewership but enjoyed a significant year-over-year gain in critical acclaim.
