Ratings: CBS’ “Life in Pieces” Loses Big Piece of “The Big Bang Theory” Lead-In

Final Ratings Update: The series premiere of CBS’ “Life in Pieces” drew a 2.6 adults 18-49 rating with 11.276 million viewers.

Strong numerically, the performance is unspectacular in context. Both the adults 18-49 rating and total viewership number markedly trail those posted by the show’s “The Big Bang Theory” lead-in.

The ninth “TBBT” season premiere drew a 4.7 rating with 18.203 million viewers.

CBS’ lineup also included “Scorpion” (2.2, 11.087 million) and “NCIS: Los Angeles” (1.2, 7.971 million).
==================

If judged purely by its numbers, CBS’ “Life in Pieces” premiere looks successful. It posted a solid 2.7 adults 18-49 rating with 11.52 million total viewers.

Context, however, makes the performance look a lot less impressive.

CBS led into the new comedy with its flagship “The Big Bang Theory.” That broadcast provided lead-in support in the form of a 4.5 adults 18-49 rating with 17.78 million viewers.

Such a drop – especially for a show that should have established its own curiosity lure – is very concerning.

CBS’ lineup also included “Scorpion” (2.2, 10.99 million) and “NCIS: LA” (1.2, 8.00 million).
