Carrie Underwood’s “Smoke Break” Debuts With 56K Sales, Tops Country Digital Chart

While its opening week sales figure markedly trails those achieved by lead “Greatest Hits: Decade #1” single “Something in the Water” and lead “Blown Away” single “Good Girl,” Carrie Underwood’s new “Smoke Break” nonetheless starts atop the Billboard Country Digital Songs chart.

According to Nielsen Music, “Smoke Break” drove 56,000 paid US downloads during its inaugural week. The weekly mark was the greatest achieved by a country single during the August 21-27 tracking frame.

In claiming #1 on the Digital Songs chart, “Smoke Break” prevents Sam Hunt’s “House Party” from achieving a clean sweep of the country charts. “House Party” tops this week’s Hot Country Songs, Country Airplay, and Country Streaming Songs listings.

It slips to #2 on Country Digital Songs (38,000).

In conjunction with its #1 position on Country Digital, “Smoke Break” grabs #18 on Country Streaming and #22 on Country Airplay. It surges thirty one places to #5 on the all-encompassing Hot Country Songs chart.

“Smoke Break” is the lead single from Underwood’s “Storyteller.”
