Ratings: FX’s “The Strain” Viewership Rises This Week

FX’s “The Strain,” which has been steadily losing viewers since the start of the second season, enjoyed a reversal of fortune this week.

For the first time this season, an episode bested its predecessor in total viewership.

Sunday’s “The Strain,” which was the sixth of the season, drew a 0.60 adults 18-49 rating with 1.435 million viewers. Last week’s drew a 0.57 with 1.264 million.

Not simply the first season two episode to post a week-over-week viewership gain, this week’s “The Strain” was also the first to avoid a series low in total viewership. Beginning with the season premiere (1.66 million viewers), every second season “The Strain” episode has drawn fewer viewers than the least-watched first season installment.

Despite the year-to-year decline, “The Strain” has still performed well enough to earn a third season renewal.
