Ratings: “Descendants,” “BUNK’D” Outperform “Teen Beach 2,” “Best Friends Whenever”

The one-two punch of movie “Descendants” and new series premiere “Bunk’d” outperformed Disney Channel’s previous “Teen Beach 2” and “Best Friends Whenever” pairing.

Friday’s “Descendants” premiere drew a total of 6.6 million total viewers. The total, which bests the 5.8 million attracted by the first airing of “Teen Beach 2,” establishes “Descendants” as the most-watched Disney Channel movie since 2013’s “Teen Beach Movie.”

“Descendants” also ranks as 2015’s #1 cable movie.

“Bunk’d,” which aired out of “Descendants” drew an impressive 4.2 million viewers for its inaugural airing. The aforementioned “Best Friends Whenever” reached 3.5 million as a “Teen Beach 2” lead-out.

“Bunk’d” is the most-watched Disney series premiere (and Disney Channel series episode) since “Girl Meets World” drew 5.2 million viewers for its June 2014 opener.
