MTV’s “Scream” Officially Renewed for a Second Season

During the San Diego Comic-Con, word emerged that “Scream” had been renewed for a second season. MTV quickly withdrew the claim and noted that no official decision been made regarding the show’s future.

A decision has since been made, and it is a positive one. MTV’s “Scream” is coming back for season two.

The network confirmed the news at the summer Television Critics Association event.

While “Scream” has not been delivering strong live+same-day ratings marks — last week’s episode drew a mere 0.33 adults 18-49 rating with 802,000 viewers — it has been attracting solid on-demand and time-shifted interest.

“‘Scream’ has averaged 60% increases in L+3 over L+SD ratings week to week,” says MTV.

The series also adds value from a buzz and branding standpoint.
