After getting off to a stronger than expected to start in the ratings, ABC’s “Galavant” took a sharper than feared fall in the face of heavy timeslot competition.
It ended its eight-episode first season run in murky territory. The numbers for its first season finale were not strong enough to make a season two renewal inevitable, but they were not weak enough that ABC had reason to completely dismiss the series.
That the show had garnered passionate fan support made the latter even more difficult.
Too difficult, in fact, for ABC, which officially ordered a second season of “Galavant” Thursday.
On the heels of the renewal, cast members Joshua Sasse, Karen David and Timothy Omundson shared comments on social media.
“If there was a moment for a reprise, I guess this would be it,” Tweeted Sasse alongside numerous hashtags related to the show’s renewal.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! Jumping up and down! Happy news!!!! Season 2 for #Galavant is a go!!!!!!!! Ahhh! Can’t wait to Isababble some more and get out of that pink room,” wrote David in a Facebook post
