HBO Books Amy Schumer Comedy Special; Chris Rock to Direct

Amy Schumer’s career-defining 2015 just got bigger. Confirmation came Thursday that the comedian will headline a one-hour special for HBO.

The special, which is Schumer’s first for HBO, will be directed by fellow comedian Chris Rock. Filming takes place at the Apollo Theater on May 29, but no official air date has been set.

HBO only confirms that it will air later this year.

“Amy is one of the most inspired comics working today, and we hope her first HBO special marks the start of a long and beautiful relationship,” said HBO’s Michael Lombardo. “This event is even more special because our good friend, the incredibly talented Chris Rock, is directing.”

In addition to the HBO special, Schumer’s 2015 slate also includes the release of her film “Trainwreck.” Earlier this year, the comedian hosted the MTV Movie Awards.

She also appears in Comedy Central’s “Inside Amy Schumer,” which was recently renewed for a fourth season.
