Update: Per fast national data, the 8-11PM portion of Sunday’s 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards broadcast drew a 3.7 adults 18-49 rating with 16.17 million viewers.

Last year’s ceremony, which also aired on CBS, drew a 3.3 with 14.17 million within that same three hour window.

This year’s show extended into the 11-11:30PM half hour, but ratings for that portion were not available at press time. Since numbers for that half hour likely clocked in below the show’s overall average, the final 8-11:30PM rating will likely trail the aforementioned fast national (8-11PM) number.

It will still, however, top the final marks for last year’s three-hour broadcast.

Metered market ratings data reveals that this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards bested last year’s edition.

According to that data, this year’s CBS broadcast averaged a 9.0 overnight household rating. Last year’s edition scored an 8.2.

While the gain is not monstrous — and perhaps not befitting the enormous hype thrown behind this year’s 50th Annual edition — it is a gain nonetheless.

Whether that gain manifests in the adults 18-49 and total viewership data remains to be seen. Those numbers should be available by 11:15AM ET.
