AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon” Claims #1 at Alternative; The Offspring Still Leads Rock

With focus already shifting to follow-up “The Wolf,” Mumford & Sons’ lead “Wilder Mind” single “Believe” was unable to retain its #1 position on the Mediabase alternative airplay chart.

Rising to #1 this week is AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf).”

Up one place this week, the lead cut from “Run” earns its #1 position thanks to the 2,557 spins it received during the April 12-18 tracking week.

The aforementioned “Believe,” which slips to #2, received 2,500.

Other top five alternative radio singles include Death Cab for Cutie’s “Black Sun” (#3, 2,163), Muse’s “Dead Inside” (#4, 2,094) and Robert DeLong’s “Long Way Down” (#5, 2,008).

— While the guard changes alternative, the crown stays intact at active rock radio. The Offspring’s “Coming for You” once again rules that format’s Mediabase chart.

“Coming for You” holds #1 thanks to its 1,861 tracking week spins. The Pretty Reckless’ “Follow Me Down” repeats at #2 with 1,825 spins, while Zac Brown Band’s surging “Heavy is the Head (featuring Chris Cornell)” earns #3 courtesy its 1,798 weekly plays.

Breaking Benjamin’s “Failure” (#4, 1,448) and Foo Fighters’ “Congregation” (#5, 1,336) also land in the top 5.
