MTV Movie Awards Ratings Crash This Year; Amy Schumer Was Host

Last year’s MTV Movie Awards ceremony fell sharply from the prior year’s telecast.

This year’s broadcast fell sharply from last year’s broadcast.

Sunday’s show, which was hosted by Amy Schumer, drew a soft 0.8 adults 18-49 rating with 1.55 million viewers.

Hosted by Conan, the 2014 edition scored a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating with 2.84 million. Those numbers were both down markedly from those of the 2013 ceremony, which was hosted by Rebel Wilson (3.8 million total viewers).

While MTV did simulcast this year’s show on VH1, the viewership from that broadcast was certainly not enough to close the sizable year-over-year gap.

In addition to the involvement of host Amy Schumer, promoted elements of Sunday’s awards show included an appearance by “The Avengers” cast, a comedic genius award for Kevin Hart and performances by Fall Out Boy, Charli XCX, Tinashe and Ty Dolla $ign.
