Ratings Update: The CW’s “iZombie” Holds Up Despite “The Flash” Re-Run

Update: Tuesday’s landscape was not an ideal one for The CW’s freshman dramedy “iZombie.”

In addition to facing competition from an extended edition of NBC’s “The Voice,” the episode also aired without lead-in support from an original edition of “The Flash.” The CW offered a “Flash” re-run, which drew considerably fewer viewers than last week’s original.

The suboptimal circumstances did not, however, produce an adults 18-49 ratings decline for “iZombie.” Per final ratings data, this week’s episode imatched last week’s 0.7 in that key demo.

Its viewership total of 1.77 million only slightly trailed the 1.81 million earned by last week’s episode.

Always admirable for a new series, the stability is especially impressive in context. NBC’s opposing “The Voice” drew twice as well as last week’s “Undateable”/”One Big Happy” hour, while The CW’s 8PM “The Flash” re-run led into “iZombie” with a mere 0.5 and 1.55 million total viewers.

Last week’s original “Flash” drew a 1.3 with 3.67 million audience members.

The daily ratings report brings very encouraging news for The CW’s “iZombie.”

Despite airing against an extended Tuesday edition of “The Voice” and sans lead-in assistance from an original edition of “The Flash,” the freshman drama matched last week’s adults 18-49 rating.

Per fast national data, this Tuesday’s “iZombie” drew a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating with 1.83 million viewers. Last week’s episode, which aired against NBC’s modestly rated comedies and received a big lead-in boost from “The Flash” (1.3 rating, 3.67 million viewers), posted a 0.7 with 1.81 million viewers in the finals.

This week’s “The Flash” encore posted a 0.5 with 1.52 million in the fast nationals. Solid for an encore broadcast, that number is still a far cry from what last week’s original delivered.

Even if this week’s final numbers suffer a slight downward in the finals (possible due to some local market pre-emptions), their proximity to last week’s performance will represent a victory.
