Update: After months of concealing his identity, the singer-songwriter known as “Who is Fancy” revealed himself to the world during Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

The artist, whose real name is Jake Hagood, made the reveal during a performance of his single “Goodbye.” A video of the showcase follows.

Photos from the taping, including shots of Who is Fancy and interview guests Louis CK and Sophia Bush, are also embedded.

As Republic was preparing to push his “Goodbye” to radio, Headline Planet reported that the artist identified as “Fancy” was singer-songwriter Jake Hagood.

Republic–and the artist himself–nonetheless maintained secrecy as the song began to make inroads at pop radio. In keeping with the spirit of mystery, “Goodbye” was actually credited to “Who is Fancy” rather than to Hagood or even “Fancy.”

Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” brought a formal end to the mystery. For the first time ever, the singer-songwriter performed his song on television, and he did so without any mask or curtain to protect his identity.

Indeed Hagood, the artist performed “Goodbye” following host Jimmy Fallon’s interviews with Louis CK and Sophia Bush.

There was some showmanship involved.

To heighten anticipation for the reveal, a group of different vocalists took turns singing lines from the first verse. The progression eventually worked its way to Hagood, who turned around, revealed himself for the first time and owned the remainder of the performance.
