FOX Renews Comedy “New Girl” for Season 5

For “New Girl” fans, Tuesday brings more than the first episode in four weeks. It also brings news that another season’s worth of episodes exists on the horizon.

Tuesday morning, FOX announced that it has issued a fifth season renewal to the well reviewed comedy.

“Four seasons in, NEW GIRL continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television,” said FOX’s David Madden. “The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn’t be more proud of Liz, Brett, Dave and the entire NEW GIRL team. We absolutely love this show and we’re so excited to bring it back for Season Five.”

The renewal assures “New Girl” will cross the 100 episode milestone.

Far from a ratings standout, “New Girl” has cultivated a reliable core fanbase and continues to generate buzz. For a network that is seeing even its seemingly unbreakable comedies like “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” show weakness, renewing “New Girl” was doubtfully a difficult decision.
