SyFy Renews “12 Monkeys,” Touts Rising Ratings, Strong DVR Lifts, Critical Praise

Feedback is strong, live+3 performance is record-setting and live+same-day viewership is rebounding.

What are three ingredients that facilitated a “12 Monkeys” renewal?

As momentum begins to swing in favor of the freshman SyFy drama, news comes that the network has officially renewed the show for a second season.

“We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” says SyFy’s Dave Howe. “The talent both on and off-screen have delivered a series that has us all on the edge of our seats, providing exactly the smart, exciting storytelling Syfy is known for.”

Per the official press release, viewership for each “12 Monkeys” episode has risen by an average of 104% in Live+3. Last Friday’s episode did not even require a DVR boost to look good — it considerably bested its predecessor in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

The second season is expected to launch in 2016.
