Ratings: AMC’s “The Walking Dead” Bounces Back Against Oscars

Based on ratings for notable cable series, it is clear that NBC’s February 15 “SNL 40” special represented fiercer competition than ABC’s February 22 Academy Awards broadcast.

Like HBO’s comedies, AMC’s “The Walking Dead” enjoyed an uptick against this Sunday’s awards show.

After slipping to a season low 6.2 adults 18-49 rating with 12.27 million viewers against last week’s “Saturday Night Live” special, “TWD” this week drew a 6.9 with 13.44 million against the Oscars.

In addition to besting last week’s showing, the performance also bests last year’s Oscars Night broadcast. That episode, which aired on 3/2/14, drew a 6.4 rating with 12.61 million viewers.

“Talking Dead,” which led out of this week’s “The Walking Dead,” scored a 2.4 with 4.86 million viewers.
