Jon Stewart Confirms “Daily Show” Departure (Watch Now)

Inserting his own perspective into the conversation, Jon Stewart announced his impending “The Daily Show” departure during Tuesday’s edition of the Comedy Central show.

“It has been an absolute privilege – the honor of my professional life,” declared Stewart. “And I thank you for watching it, for hate-watching it, whatever reason you were tuning in for. You get in this business with the idea that maybe you have a point of view and something to express.

And to receive feedback from that is the greatest feeling you could ask for. And I thank you.”

Stewart, who noted that he neither has a concrete plan for when he will depart nor for what he will do upon leaving “The Daily Show,” also thanked the team behind Comedy Central’s Emmy-winning series.

“I don’t think I’m going to miss being on television every day, but I’m going to miss coming here every day,” remarked Stewart.

Earlier Tuesday, announced that the “comic genius” will “remain at the helm of The Daily Show until later this year.”

“His comedic brilliance is second to none…and [he] will always be part of the Comedy Central family,” added the network.
