Grammys: Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” Wins for Pop Vocal Album

Sam Smith [NBC]

Sam Smith will not sweep the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, but he will exit the ceremony with multiple trophies.

Moments after losing the race for Best Pop Solo Performance, Sam Smith won the Best Pop Vocal Album award.

His “In the Lonely Hour” beat out Katy Perry’s “PRISM,” Ed Sheeran’s “x,” Miley Cyrus’ “Bangerz,” Ariana Grande’s “My Everything” and Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories.”

Already a victor for Best New Artist, Smith now owns two Grammys trophies. He remains in contention for three more — Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.
