Ratings: “Jane the Virgin” Turns Away Last Week’s Gain

Jane the Virgin - The CW

After failing to score an improved adults 18-49 rating for its first post-Golden Globe Awards broadcast on 1/19/15, The CW’s “Jane the Virgin” last week matched its series high 0.6 adults 18-49 rating. It commanded a total viewership average of 1.55 million, which was the series’ best mark since the October 13, 2014 season premiere.

Based on fast national data, “Jane” did not hold onto those elevated marks this week.

Monday’s episode drew a reduced 0.5 adults 18-49 rating with 1.25 million viewers.

Because lead-in “The Originals” also suffered a steep drop in viewership (it drew a season high 1.74 million viewers last week but only 1.47 million this time), some will feel justified in excusing this week’s reduced “Jane” audience (although the “Jane” drop was a bit steeper than the “Originals” fall).

Since “The Originals” matched last week’s 0.7 adults 18-49 rating, one cannot as cleanly do the same for the “Jane” decline in adults 18-49. It clearly lost steam in the demo.
