Ratings: “KC Undercover” Viewership Falls in Week Two (Updated)

Insofar as their premieres are generally promoted as major events–and sometimes even air after massively rated movies–Disney Channel original series can take sizable ratings hits in week two.

As an example, viewership for the second episode of “Girl Meets World” trailed that of the premiere by 37%. Viewership for “Liv and Maddie” fell by 38% in week two.

“KC Undercover” did not debut in precisely the same manner. While it did benefit from the presence of an established Disney Channel name in Zendaya, it aired against the AFC Championship without a monster lead-in.

As such, its opening week viewership average of 3.51 million was not the product of significant inflation. Viewership for its second episode, therefore, should not have been expected to take a 40% hit.

As far as viewership goes, “KC Undercover” indeed avoided a fall of that magnitude. It did, however, take a major hit in adults 18-49.

Sunday’s “KC Undercover” attracted 3.05 million viewers (-13%). Its adults 18-49 rating, however, clocked in at a 0.4. Last week’s episode delivered a 0.7.

“KC” nonetheless matched last week’s 1.6 in the females 12-34 demographic that represents a clearer target for the series and network.

Overall, the program was still Disney Channel’s top performer for the evening. Other notable programs:

“Austin & Ally” (8PM) – 2.22 million viewers, 0.3 adults 18-49 rating, 1.0 females 12-34 rating
“Liv and Maddie” (9PM) – 2.52 million viewers, 0.3 adults 18-49 rating, 1.3 females 12-34 rating
