The Weeknd’s “Earned It” Impacts Pop Radio in February

A second “50 Shades of Grey” single is coming to pop radio.

On the heels of news that Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do,” which is being promoted by Interscope, is already one of the format’s 30 most-played songs, Republic announced that it will be pushing The Weeknd’s “Earned It” to pop next month.

Republic’s radio promotions website lists a February 24 impact date for the “50 Shades of Grey” single.

Technically the first track to formally emerge from the “50 Shades” soundtrack, “Earned It” has begun to make minor waves at the urban and rhythmic radio formats. Per Mediabase, it is currently the 40th-most-played song at urban and 48th-most-played at rhythmic.

The Weeknd currently appears on the pop chart courtesy his Ariana Grande collaboration “Love Me Harder.” The track, which peaked at #3, is currently the pop format’s 4th-most-played single.
