Ratings: “Parks & Recreation” Bests Last Season’s Premiere

The combination of Golden Globes exposure (including attention on costar Amy Poehler, who hosted the awards broadcast), interest in the series’ final season and a more favorable competitive landscape produced improved ratings for this year’s “Parks & Recreation” launch.

“Parks” commenced its seventh and final season with a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 3.76 million viewers at 8PM and a 1.5 with 3.30 million at 8:30PM.

While the episode-to-episode drop is disappointing, the year-over-year increase is welcome. The sixth season “Parks” premiere drew a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating with 3.27 million viewers from 8-9PM ET on September 26, 2013.

The sixth season finale, meanwhile, scored a 1.0 rating with 2.71 million viewers on April 24, 2014.

— Other NBC programming on Tuesday: “Marry Me” (0.7, 2.20 million), “About a Boy” (0.9, 2.76 million), “Chicago Fire” (1.5, 6.59 million).
