One Direction Added to NBC’s 12/23 “The Tonight Show”

Update: While One Direction will not be the official musical guest on Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show,” NBC says the group will deliver a classroom instruments performance in the “Tonight Show Music Room.”

A first look photo of that performance (“Santa Claus is Coming to Town”) is now available.

At 8PM on December 23, NBC will present its hourlong “One Direction: The TV Special” (first look photos).

Later that evening, it will air an episode of “The Tonight Show” that features the global phenomenon.

NBC announced that the members of One Direction will collectively appear as the night’s second interview guests. They will appear following Jerry Seinfeld’s sit-down with host Jimmy Fallon and before musical guest Big Sean takes the stage with accompaniment from The Roots.

The episode is one of two originals to air that week; the Monday edition featuring Chris Pine, David Oyelowo and Bobby Flay is also a new one.

Updated “Tonight Show” listings follow:

Friday, December 19: Guests include Ben Stiller, Brie Larson and Damon Wayans. Show 184

Monday, December 22: Guests include Chris Pine, David Oyelowo and Bobby Flay. Show 185
