Last fall’s fifth season finale drew a 4.0 rating with 14.01 million viewers, while the spring’s sixth season closer drew a 3.3 with 11.69 million.

Update: Per fast national data, Tuesday’s season finale of “The Voice” drew a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating and 12.71 million total viewers from 9-11PM ET.
Both numbers trail those of last fall’s season five finale, which posted a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating and 14.01 million viewers. The May 2014 season six finale drew a slightly stronger 3.3 adults 18-49 rating (although an adjustment for this year’s episode is always possible) but a weaker viewership average of just 11.69 million.
Earlier in the night, NBC offered “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas” (1.3 rating, 4.87 million viewers).

After operating at or near series low levels for the past several weeks, NBC’s “The Voice” saw a decent uptick in interest for its seventh season finale.
The two hour episode, which revealed Craig Wayne Boyd as the winner and featured performances by acts like Hozier, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Jennifer Hudson, Fall Out Boy and Meghan Trainor, drew an 8.1 overnight household rating.
Down from the 9.0 overnight household rating delivered by last fall’s fifth season finale (which translated into a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating and 14.01 million viewers in the final broadcast ratings report), the number nonetheless bests the 7.0 delivered by the spring’s sixth season finale. That episode ended up delivering a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating with 11.69 million viewers.
Earlier in the night, NBC offered “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas.” It drew a 3.0 overnight household rating.
