Hot 100: Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” is His Highest-Charting Hit

When judged in terms of peak position on the Billboard Hot 100, “Thinking Out Loud” is now the biggest hit of Ed Sheeran’s career.

Despite only just beginning its run at pop radio, “Thinking Out Loud” leverages strong sales and streaming interest to reach a new high of #6 on the weekly chart.

Up eighteen places from last week’s mark, the song’s #6 peak is the highest ever reached by Sheeran. That distinction previously belonged to predecessor “Don’t,” which went as high as #9 on the Hot 100.

Ahead of “Thinking” this week are Taylor Swift’s #1 “Blank Space,” Hozier’s #2 “Take Me to Church,” Mark Ronson’s #3 “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars),” Meghan Trainor’s #4 “Lips are Movin” and Sam Smith’s #5 “I’m Not the Only One.”
