Maddie & Tae’s New Single “Fly” Hits Country Radio in January

After relying on sass, timely content, quick wit and a very current, mainstream instrumental to score its first number one hit, breakout country duo Maddie & Tae will turn to a softer, more sentimental vibe for round two.

Label Dot records today announced that the follow-up to #1 smash “Girl in a Country Song” will be “Fly.”

Set to impact the country radio format in January, “Fly” is a pivotal release for the chart-topping duo. Illustrative of their charming vocals, undeniable chemistry and melodic sensibility, it lacks the shortcut, novelty vibe that surely helped “Girl in a Country Song” get its start.

While in some ways the best received of the duo’s three, non-“Girl in a Country Song” EP tracks, it also demonstrates the least alignment with the essence of country radio’s current #1 track. Whereas “Sierra” and “Your Side of Town” latch onto the personality and attitude embodied by “Girl” (and by hits from standout female country acts like Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves), “Fly” is content to let beauty, feeling and musicality do the talking.

As they await country radio’s verdict on “Fly,” Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye still have plenty to celebrate in the wake of reaching #1 on the Mediabase and Billboard airplay charts.
