Ratings: “SNL” Improves Slightly for James Franco, Nicki Minaj Episode

Blockbuster ratings do not seem to be in the cards for “Saturday Night Live” this season. Episode-to-episode improvement, therefore, serves as a more realistic source of celebration.

NBC gets to enjoy that form of celebration this week.

Saturday’s episode, which featured host James Franco and Nicki Minaj, drew a 4.4 overnight household rating. Far from spectacular, the number nonetheless bests the 4.1 delivered by the November 22 episode (which featured host Cameron Diaz and musical guests Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars) and ranks as the second-best mark of the season.

According to NBC, the show drew a 2.2 adults 18-49 in the twenty five markets with local people meters. That bests the 2.0 earned by the Diaz-Ronson/Mars installment.
