Brandy Clark, HAIM Join Sam, Iggy, Bastille in Best New Artist Grammy Race

Last year, “Follow Your Arrow” singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves scored a nomination for the prestigious Best New Artist Grammy.

This year, her “FYA” co-writer Brandy Clark enters the mix.

Like Musgraves’ recordings, Clark’s music has acquired critical acclaim from all corners of the country genre, including from that which plays host to genre traditionalists. Like Musgraves was last year, she is the singular country nominee in the annual Best New Artist field.

Via her widely praised “12 Stories,” Clark is also up for the Best Country Album trophy.

Other best new artist contenders, meanwhile, are breakthrough pop superstars Sam Smith and Iggy Azalea and alternative crossover acts HAIM and Bastille.
