BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread” Hits #19 at Alt, Ella Henderson Rises at Hot AC

iHeartRadio’s “On the Verge” selections for alternative and hot adult contemporary are now among the respective format’s twenty most-played songs.

Boosted by a potent combination of guaranteed “On the Verge” airplay and general music industry buzz, BANKS” “Beggin for Thread” and Ella Henderson’s “Ghost” appear at #19 and #20 on Monday’s rolling Mediabase alternative and Hot AC airplay charts.

While neither made the Top 20 in time for Sunday’s official update, both should have no trouble holding their current positions through next week’s official update.

BANKS’ “Thread” claims #19 on the strength of the 890 alternative spins it received during the November 3-9 tracking period. It has a long way to go if it would rather follow in the footsteps of successful “On the Verge” alumni “Come With Me Now,” “Stolen Dance” and “Riptide” than the modest “Trainwreck 1979,” but entry into the Top 20 reflects a nice start.

Ella Henderson’s “Ghost,” meanwhile, rises to #20 at Hot AC courtesy the 1,490 spins it commanded between November 3 and 9. Now in the Top 40 at pop as well, “Ghost” is showing mainstream life but still faces a long journey before it can declare itself as successful as recent Hot AC “On the Verge” pick “Cool Kids.”

RaeLynn’s “God Made Girls,” which was announced as the “On the Verge” country selection around the same time the BANKS and Ella Henderson tracks began received their iHeartRadio acknowledgement, is currently #22 on the country format with 2,879 weekly spins.
