Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” Rockets to #31 at Pop

Thanks to the largest single-day spin gain for any track at the format (+484 on Saturday), Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” is already up to #31 at pop radio.

The single, which Headline Planet first confirmed as the second “1989” single earlier this week, has thus far commanded 2,251 spins. According to Mediabase’s tracking, that count puts “Blank Space” at #31 for the October 26-November 1 tracking week.

When Mediabase’s weekly airplay chart goes official Sunday evening, it will confirm that Swift’s “Blank Space” is the pop format’s highest-charting new entry.

Hot from an airplay standpoint, “Blank Space” is even hotter from an audience standpoint. A favorite of large market programmers, the follow-up to “Shake it Off” scored a weekly impression count of 18.86 million. That was the format’s 21st-largest between October 26 and November 1.

Still more than a week away from its official impact at both formats, “Blank Space” is also gaining ground at hot adult contemporary. It is thus far #42 at Hot AC and due to make a quick climb into the Top 40.

“Blank Space” follows Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off,” which spent two, non-consecutive weeks atop the pop airplay chart and continues to rule at Hot AC.
