Maroon 5’s “Animals” is Greatest Pop, Hot AC Airplay Gainer

Maroon 5’s “Animals” continues roaring up the airplay charts.

According to Mediabase, the follow-up to “Maps” surges to #7 on this week’s pop radio airplay chart on the strength of 11,576 weekly spins (during the October 26 – November 1 tracking week). That total bests last week’s mark by 2,710 spins, which is the format’s largest week-over-week gain.

Other significant pop risers this week included Tove Lo’s #2 “Habits (Stay High)” (+2,594), Taylor Swift’s #31 “Blank Space” (+2,251), Ariana Grande & The Weeknd’s #18 “Love Me Harder” (+1,440) and Meghan Trainor’s #28 “Lips are Movin” (+1,368).

“Animals,” meanwhile, storms to #6 at hot adult contemporary thanks to 4,249 weekly spins. Its week-over-week gain of 753 was that format’s greatest as well.

Other great Hot AC gainers included Hozier’s #20 “Take Me to Church” (+463), OneRepbulic’s #18 “I Lived” (+363), Gwen Stefani’s #29 “Baby Don’t Lie” (358) and Ed Sheeran’s #4 “Don’t” (+331).
