Last week’s opening night–and opening weekend–leader “Ouija” retained its top spot at the Halloween Friday box office.

“Ouija” earned $3.5 million in its second Friday of release, which gave it a slight edge over new release “Nightcrawler.” That film entered the market with $3.2 million in receipts.

Moderately interested in “Nightcrawler,” the box office was not particularly captivated by two other new entries. “Before I Go to Sleep” earned a mere $0.6 million from 1902 screens (12th place), while the 10th Anniversary “Saw” re-issue managed to drive just $0.3 million Halloween ticket sales.

Former box office victory “Fury” grabbed third with $2.0 million, while “John Wick,” last week’s runner-up, was good for an extra $1.8 million in ticket sales.

“Gone Girl” claimed fifth with $1.8 million.
